FreiChat 5 - All Messages are deleted at midnight?! Sound?

Why are all messages in the database are deleted at midnight, even the time for saving in the setup is "1 day"?

And is there a problem with the sound-notification or is it not yet implemented in 5.0? I can´t here a sound in IE and Firefox.

The messages get deleted only after 86400 seconds (1 day)

Can you test it again ,

And sound was disabled due to some bugs in 5.0 but it is reenabled in 5.1

So you can install FreiChatX 5.1 alpha with a few bug fixes .

I already checked it this midnight because I found out in the last days, that the database always beginns at 0:00h. This night, at 11:50 pm all messages were in the database (about 1.200 entries). I checked again at 00:02 am and all the messages bevor midnight were deleted.

I also think that some messages are deleted at other times. Sometimes I found some gaps in my chat-history...
and some other messages are not deleted after 3 days?! (see screenshot)

Maybe that could be happen, when users delete the chat-history by herself. But I had a chat after midnight and didn´t delete it. But this morning it isn´t in the database any longer. You can see the gaps at the id-column.

Ok do this last test .

Change the time for save message history to 1 hour.

And see if the message get deleted properly.

Also , i will test in my localhost , the same way ,
just tell me the steps to reproduce the problem .

I changed the time for save the chat-history to 1 hour.
But I think that also doesn´t work perfect. There are still gaps were some messages are not deleted:

Some users also told me, that sometimes messages are not send to the chatpartner. But I couldn´t reproduce that...

ok i understood what is happening, if you see the 'recd' column you will notice all the messages have '0', which means those messages are not yet delivered (may be the other user went offline or was not available).

The messages that are not delivered are not deleted, it was not a bug in the versions prior to 4.x, because the working was totally different but now you can call it a bug.

and yes this bug will be fixed soon... thanks for letting us know.

Wonderful. It makes fun to test out the new version with you and fix the bugs. :-)

Two questions:
- Can I delete these messages with recd="0" in the database manually?
- Do you also think for the problem that all messages are deleted at midnight?

yes you can delete them manually, it may be better even if you empty the whole table once in a while.

Do you also think for the problem that all messages are deleted at midnight?

i doubt this could happen because it simply uses a SQL query to delete the records which are older than the set time.

It´s not that big problem, but the messages are deleted at midnight. I checked it out again today:
