Hi, I am new to freichat. I have just purchased the extension but I am unable to even get it installed. I keep receiving a 500 error. Here are my steps:

1- Upload zip to site directory (first level of joomla)
2-Unzip folder
3-type in a browser the directory http://mysite/freichat/installation/index.php

Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

That is a problem due to wrong file permissions .

Give all files of freichat, permissions of 0644 recursively
Give all folders of freichat, permissions of 0755 recursively

In my case, here is what I was doing wrong: I tried to extract the files within Joomla Admin using the component Xplorer as the file manager. Thus, if you are still having the same issue, try using your host application to upload and extract files instead of a Joomla component.

My new problem now is how to create a chatroom page with a menu pointed to it. Hopefully, admin or another user in the same boat will bail me out on that one. loll

I will also like to disable the facebook-like chat bar at the bottom of the page. For my site, this feature is more annoying than convenient. I am sure there may be an easy way to do that but being new to Freichat, I have not yet figured out how to disable that feature while keeping the chatrooms.

I gave all the files and folders permissions, but for some reason the 500 error continues to appear.
