I have installed the latest version of the plugin but when i change in the backend option to "Buddies", it doesnt seem to be working. All the registered users are able to see the logged in users who are not their friends in CB.

make sure you have write permissions for the freichat/config.dat file.

I checked and it has the proper CMOD values. Here are few lines of that file:
>> a:18:{s:9:"show_name";s:5:"buddy";

try creating 2 new users!
make sure they are not connected.
Then check if they are available on each others list.

I did that but still i can find the ppl who are not connected appearing on the chat window !

should i reinstall it ??

Its a bug which wasn't known till now.
apparently the bug was there since version 4(But none of us noticed), we are working to solve this issue right now and a patch will be released soon.

Apparently i'm using this for a month or so. Its only now that this problem has surfaced

The above problem got resolved when the chat was upgraded to V5.2beta.
