It is possible but you will have to customize the forum template as well some code custohmization for that.

But, it may not look exactly like mybb or SMF because codoforum has images for each category which is not present in either of them.

If we get enough requests, we will see if we can add this directly into the core.

Firstly, one of the key differences between codoforum and traditional forum is that, codoforum does not have anything like 'boards' and 'forum'.

You can start by copy pasting the 'default' template in sites/default/themes

The template that we want to edit is YOUR_THEME/templates/forum/topics.tpl

Delete the whole div with the class 'codo_topics' in that file.

Now, for the div with the class 'codo_categories', it will have another class named 'col-md-4',
change it to 'col-md-12'

After this, your page will look something like this:
