I'm getting a PDO error

I tried to install the chat to Elgg. I got an error saying:
Fatal error: Class 'PDO' not found in /home/zennu/public_html/mod/chat/vendors/freichat/installation/install.php on line 223

I don't know what is causing this. Please help me with this. This is the plugin that I used for the same : http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/release/798851/developer/webgalli/freichat-integration-for-elgg-18

you don't have PDO installed,
please install PDO or ask your webhost to enable it.
