I read the readme doc.
I unzipped the folder and uploaded it to my joomla 1.5.23 "tmp" folder.

In the directory window I put /home/myFtpAccountName/public_html/site/home/tmp/freichat/installation/index.php

I got "Please enter a package directory."

Your readme says to place the freichat folder in the "installed" directory. I do not have one so I placed it in the tmp directory.

What can I do here? I have tried the URL window
http://www.mysite.com/home/tmp/freichat/installation/index.php

That does not work either.

What am I doing wrong? What can I do right?

I'm in the same boat I have tried to install to Joomla CB via Extension Manager and Install from URL. The URL per the readme.txt doc I'm using is http://mysite/community/freichat/installation/index.php and I get an error that says " - Unknown Archive type".

Could this version be the root of my problems?

I install it via Joomla Install /Uninstall interface.
Not through CB.
I am using Jomsocial. That was the primary reason I wanted this but I cannot install it.

what did you get when you loaded the installation/index.php ?? any errors or messages ??

I can access the freichat install interface in browser without the Joomla admin.
Do you advise I do this or so I need to do it via joomla admin install/uninstall?

yeah,were you doing this from joomla install/uninstall interface? LOL :D
you see FreiChatX is a separate program which must be installed separately, the integration is done once the installation is complete.

I installed freichat via browser not via joomla install/Uninstall interface.
I downloaded and installed the module.
I see the module name but there is no chat interface?

During install process I chose Jomsocial so it told me to put the freichat folder in the jomsocial subfolder. I did but no chat interface was visible.

Then I set the arg.php to false and reinstalled it from the home folder.
The chat interface is in the lower right hand side of the borser and although I logged in and the chat is set to guest it says no on is online.
Also how do I get the chat interface to display in the module position.

If its saying no one is online then there must be no one online ,
have you tested with two different browsers .

And won't it look bad if the whole chatbox came in the module position
And where is the module position exactly in your page .

I logging into my site, opened the chat interface and it says no one is online.

But that's alright because I have moved on to a shoutbox that will at least recognize a registered member AND I can put it anywhere on my site. I never liked the facebook corner format.

When installing a custom installation, i kept see this:
Error!: SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'nialsalu_chat'@'74.209.215.9' (using password: YES)

Am very sure all my parameters are correct, pls help

hi im using cpanel 2 copied the freichat directory to public_html folder entered the address path for the installation but in freichat backend the "accept" button dont let me go any more
