Are requests to server normal during videochat?

Hi there,

I noticed that during the usage of videochat, there are requests being done to the server. So not only before making the connection, but also during. GET and POST requests, each 3 seconds. This is fine. However, I wanted to check if this is normal behaviour (because of performance).

Hi,

The requests should be made only before the connection is setup.

After the video chat starts, there shouldn't be any more requests.

Hello,

I did not find a solution yet. Here is the situation, after the connection has been established correctly:

  • Both users send a get_video request, each with an interval of 20 seconds
  • Only one user keeps sending a post_video request, with an interval of 2-3 seconds. The other user does not send any post_video requests anymore, when the succesfull connection has been established.

The continuation of the get_video requests is actually fine by me. 20 seconds is quite long, and it helps to clear up the frei_webrtc table. The post_video requests however, are too much. Also, they are filling up the frei_webrtc table.

The post_video requests are all 'session-id' message requests. As in, the msg part starts with "sessionid":. I would like to stop these requests.

I was thinking about something like (in codortc.js): if(get_video contains 'candidate', and post_video contains 'sessionid' ) than dont set setTimeout for post_video).

However, I am not sure what would work, and how the code should look like.

Any ideas?
