I was trying to install the plugin on an ELGG site, and I mistekenly put in the wrong path for the settings. It was step 10 on this page.

It was a valid file, but the wrong files, so I was able to continue , but then received an error. My issue is that I wanted to restart and spcify the correct file, but I can't seem to get the settings link on the plugin to shop up now. I deleted the chat directory from mod\ ran upgarde, and reinstalled mod\chat, but the plug in does not have the settings link, and won't allow me to try to install the chat again. Is there any other file I can edit or remove to allow me to start the install again?

Why is it not allowing you to reinstall it ?

Are you getting error messages ?

I was able to get it up and working, but then in teh morning the chat box dissapeared and can't find out why, I can still connect to the back end and make changes. Flushing cache and upgrade / reactivate do not seem to help.

I am now getting these errors when I try to connect

Strike that, the error message was an old entry in the log. I get the connected to database message and then nothing else, no errors. So its not displaying on the site, but I can't see any errors either. Suggestions on what to try or where to look for additional information? I was looking at the vendors\friechat\friechat.log

I don't get any message in the log, but I still see this depricated message from ELGG.

I Guess you have a chrome browser .
So
Open up your chrome console
Click on the network tab from the list of tabs .

You will find many requests , click on the request made by freichat .
[You will observe that freichat makes requests every five seconds]
And see if you find any errors in the response returned .
