I am using Joomla 1.5.25 with FreiChat.V.8.0.1.zip. I uploaded the zip file to my joomla directory and extracted it. Changed file permissions and installed it.
I downloaded the module mod_freichat_v7.zip but could not install it because of this error message

"Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package."

I looked at the readme and it says install from Joomla administrator but this is not working please advise.

The module is not compatible with Joomla 1.5 , if you can contact us via email we will send you a Joomla 1.5 compatible module .

I got the same problem and i am using Joomla 3.0.2

I contact them as instructed and they sent me a module which installed with no trouble. I removed the manual code from my templates "index.php" file. I set the module position to "right."

So...I read them and then manually and meticulously set all folders, subfolders and files in Freichat folder to 0755 (I do not have shell access) and then I uploaded a phpinfo.php file to my root public_html directory and then uploaded a php.ini file to my joomla directory. Now I have glitchy errors and warning on the flash logo of my site. Something about the time. and the chat module still will not appear anywhere. All I get is a title.

Don't know what to say at this point except...its harder than it should be. But I still need it to work.

If you can give us Cpanel / FTP access , we can help you install it .
