Bug with the theme creation

Seems everytime I try creating a new theme, (trying to make a Dark theme), I get everything the way I hope it would look, I save and the chat always gets messed up.

Steps I do is normally just edit the gradient, some text colors, and backgrounds using the editor. Then I save the theme and go into the client side options and set the theme as default. When I go to my site, the chat looks fine, but the tab for the chat rooms is gone. I go back to look at the theme and in the image is what I see. A friend of mine tested this on his site and same exact thing.

There seems to be some problem with the theme maker.

Can you edit the files directly ?

Also, let us know the steps to reproduce the problem

Don't know which file to edit for the chat box. But to reproduce this is very simple, and I have had someone else try on their site and the same thing happens on his site.

  1. Go and create a new template from within the Theme Maker.
  2. Just edit the chatwindow [maximized] and click on the head of that element and scroll down to the background-image and edit the gradient. I was doing a light gray on the left and black on the right and setting it to Linear and Top.
  3. Go to the elements list and select the Chatroom.
  4. Select again, the head of that element and scroll down to the "background-image" and click on the gradient tool. Do the same thing you did for the chat window.
  5. once you have done that, now click on the rooms and the hide buttons and again, change the gradient on those.
  6. Save theme.
  7. Now go back to the theme list and hit refresh, (or F5), and if you go back to edit that theme, you should see the chatroom messed up like in my animation I posted in the first post.

I believe it only will happen AFTER you edit the buttons that it causes those issues but I am not 100% user on that.

Also, do you have any suggests for my other post?

I have a totop script where the button is on the far right and the chat covers it, I like to shift the chat to the left so it does not cover that button. I can move the button, but I rather not. I just need to float the user list and the chat over by maybe 125px - 150px from the right edge.

Hi

You can edit the CSS in client/themes/basic/styles.css

Moving the chat to the left will involve moving the position of chat windows too.

You will find .chatbox class where you can set the position

You will find .freicontain0 to .freicontain3 for the position of chat windows

Thanks, with the info you gave helped me, though I did not find the .chatbox class, I did find that I had to edit #freichat and set the right to 75px; and then do all the .freicontain, 0 - 3.

I can edit via the CSS, but that still does not fix the issue of the editor breaking the style. It's a great tool for visually seeing also making editing easy. Just weird that it only breaks that one object, the chat rooms. Almost as if its deleting a portion of the CSS when you save.

I work for a CMS and I know many others would like to use this system on their CMS and like me, and are willing to buy, but, only a fully functional system would be wanted because most of the guys I support on the CMS, can barely do simple edits to stuff like updating a deprecated php function, or a proper usage of a delimiter, let alone change their header image. Just for that one issue, everything else is manageable. Still working out why this system does not want to pull the user avatar, but, that, I will keep working on.
