Ok. I'm trying to do a plugins based on similar_topics which read pms to see if there is new and show a counter in a small block under existing counters.
It's difficult for me as i have to learn both smarty and object programming ( I learnt only linear programming).
I hope have somehing usable before the end of the week.

It will simply give a counter for new pms and a link to profiles/pm to read it.
hope it will be enough for everyone ...

@adesh1414127033 : why only one message per sender/receiver ? is it a bug ? if you change thread_hash to from_to_initialpost, you can have multiples messages from one to the same another, no ?
how can i access directly pms ? seem not to be possible to access with profile#pms ...

Yes it s a plugin. just unpack it in plugins dir . My forum is also 3.6, so no worries. Maybe a little buggy, as m'y forum is under development.

don't (yet) work with multiple blocks. seem impossible to have it under categories. maybe a typo error in combobox ( "catgory" instead of "category" looking for that too! hope @adesh1414127033 will answer shortly for a common way of debugging !!

be carefull if you change position. I think there is a bug if you try to modify block location. you have to delete block and create it again ( looking for that also! too many work for a single human!)

I'll try to allow multiple blocks for same plugin. With this option, you will be able to add it in first page and on post page.

yeah! good idea!
But it will be difficult as notifications are topic/category based
will try with null topic and category.

I don't know, i have not a production environment to verify! based on 2/3 messages in my test base.. Waiting for @adesh1414127033 response to confirm...

edit: The number of messages is false. trying to determine why, by the count is right in the database, but false if you count messages displayed !! looking for that...

How did you with multiple blocks ? It don't work in 3.6

@hard_as_snails the same plugin in multiple regions. to have counter on first page and under post infos.. how did you solved this problem ?

ps: I made two or three little corrections in counter. I'll post a new version tonight.

not necessary. just add two blocks with same plugin. but there is an error ( because object is re-declared) and i have not enough klowledge in object programming to solve it...
