Hello. I just updated my freichat from 8.6 to 8.7 and now all it says is "Getting list of online users ....." then when I refresh the browser the chat wont even load. I double checked the settings and everything seems fine.

I did a fresh install and same thing.

Can someone tell me what might be wrong?

The chat now connects and shows up the first time you visit the site but as soon as you reload the page the chat disappears.

last time I reported this problem you had solved it maybe it's the same error.

Please try changing the order in which freichat is loaded . Try making it load before the slideshow modules .

It is still doing the same thing. I re-installed it from scratch and it showed up but after a page refresh it went away.

Go to freichat/ directory and see if you can find a .htaccess file . Delete that file if you find it .

If you dont find that file , create a file name .htaccess
Then add the following contents

<ifmodule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule . - [E=no-gzip:1]
</ifmodule>

It is now working thats to your htaccess code. Thanks a lot for fixing this.

No, the htaccess wasnt there, I had to create one.

Please forgive me but I am not computer smart could you give me a little more direction on how to exactly create this directory...I am very good at following directions I just need more specific directions on how to do it...I did go into my freichat in my filezilla and I do not have that file listed in the directory so I do need to create it.

myfrriendsplace, this is what I did to solve my problem.

In your sites root directory there should be a file named .htaccess. Download it from your server but dont delete it from your server leave it where it is. Once you download it from your server open it with Notepad or some other text editor and remove everything that.s in it and replace it with the code the admin said to put in.

After you put the code in the .htaccess file, upload it to your freichat directory.

That should be it.
