We are in the process of implementing the permission system.

The current implementation will be as follows:

1. You can add/edit/delete roles
2. You can edit permissions for each role
3. You can assign multiple roles for a user
4. You can edit permissions for each role on category level

We have also added the possibility to edit permissions at the topic level but we won't be providing the GUI for it as of now.

We are looking for scenarios where the permission system will be used.
This will help us build a easy-to-use permission control based on the common use cases.

We have thought of the following.

Make the forum private

All unregistered users will be redirected to the login page and won't have access to the content.

Make a category private

It will be used to allow users only with certain user roles to access a particulat category.
It can be used to create moderator-only or premium-members category.

Looking for more ideas. Your inputs are very much appreciated.

Hello guys! I'm a new user and i've installed freichat. It seemed it was working well, but I've realized it works only in my lan.
I've tested the access to the database from remote network and it works, so the remote client is able to login on my site using a registered username, but it's not able to use the chat.

What could be the trouble?

Hi, Isn't it possible to add Files Uploading facility in topic creation & reply?

Right now a user can upload image only. But in Professional & Academic Forums, it is vital for our members to upload PDF and DOC files.

It is not rational on the part of our member to first upload the file in DROPBOX or GOOGLE DRIVE and then paste link here.

Please let me know.

I purchase the top of your product and I assumed it would work well, but freichat have a few problems and if we go on like this I will not see ever run my project.

Is there a way i can link the forums to community builder for joomla and my website user list, so they don't have to do a whole other set of registration to use the forums?

I've been looking for a chat program for quite awhile and this looks to be the chat software I have been searching for. This is an excellent package with some amazing features and very fast. I do have an issue or request... this chat is replacing Envolve Chat that had a chatroom with features that I desperately need. This is seriously the difference been an interactive website and people just keeping to themselves.

Since we've changed from Envolve to Friechat our online chat has dropped to about 10% of what it was with some people not even showing up anymore.

1) Chatroom opens to default General Chat on pageload.

2) Everyone is automatically in that chatroom but can leave.

3) Chat content of all rooms stays for very long periods of time or pushed out at maybe 3000 posts or so.

4) Chat 'be-boop' sound in chatrooms when people chat.

Ideally a much smaller chat room. Envolve had a much smaller chatroom - about 1/2 again the size of a regular, private chat. People were represented by tiny heads at the top of the room so the huge amount of space for names was unnecessary.

I'm not expecting any action on the 'smaller chat room' but I desperately need the other 4. If you could help me out with how to get there or if I need a better package, I'd appreciate that.

1. question .. i use your forum for customer support .. i want not that user can register ..or he can register and i (the admin) can accept him or not .. dont like when not customer register and post or view tropics from him ..

I need help with the new Elgg 1.9.
I have installed the last release of Freichat found here: http://codologic.com/page/codo_commerce/buy

The problem is Freichat is not fully compatible with Elgg 1.9 because it's developped for Elgg 1.8+ so I know It's normal.

About my problem : When Freichat is activated, elgg admin panel is frozen. It means the accordeons menus don't scroll down anymore.
If I desactivate Freichat in Freichat admin panel, my elgg admin panel come back to normal.

The chat rooms appear to be working normally till another user logs in to the site. At that point the text box and message display gray out and you cant read messages or type in the box. when no one is on the site it goes back to normal. has this happened to anyone before and if so what is the fix? also is it possible to set the chatrooms to be open on load load, apparently people are saying its too hard to see the little chat room tab when its collapsed.

Finally got Friechat installed properly. Now when adding new smilies, the picture isn't showing in the smile box on reload it caused friechat to disappear from the front end of the site. was trying to use \m/ as the trigger but in the chat box \ kept disappearing.. then on second attempt switched it to an m, but on the smilies box in chat it no longer showed the other icons but a flooded box of repeated new icon. Any ideas on how to work around this?

I have seen many topics on this and no solutions which work for me. Took forever to figure out how to install Freichat, finally got it set up and showing in the back end of my Joomla 3 site with Community Builder log in. Enabled it, set it to all pages, tried different positions, debug, position 0, etc... the usual Joomla stuff and nothing is showing up in the front end. If you go to the site and do ctl u and get the code, I do see Freichat. Please help. Website is www.granitecoastentertainment.com

after upgrading from 9.6 to 10.0, the message

"The user is offline, messages you send will be delivered when the user comes online."

does not show anymore. In cases where the other user's status is changed to 'offline', or Freichat is not loaded anymore (logout, close browser).

I saw that, in freichat.js, the following line

if (FreiChat.is_in_array(freichatusers[j], data.userdata) === false)

was changed to

if (FreiChat.is_in_array(freichatusers[j], data.userdata) === false && !$jn('#chatboxtextarea' + freichatusers[j]).data('data'))

When I changed this back, it worked again. However I do not know if this change has any other effects. Is it okay if I change this back?

when i edit for correct german .. in tropic dispay correctly
