First - I have no other way to say it but:
Freichat is AWESOME!!!

Except:
Google Chrome seems to endlessly COLLECTING USERS LIST...
while other browsers (FF, IE) show all active users.
(I tried it on different machines and versions - no success with Chrome)

I followed the Readme file step by step and managed to set it all up and running in 10 minutes, with no installation issues.

The CHROME problem was there from the start though.

I read on other threads people had no special issues with Chrome, except this guy: http://evnix.com/drupal2/node/468 , but he has Joomla 1.7.


I really appreciate your time and help with any suggestions on what can be wrong?

I have installed everything and the chat loads (except it wants the user to login)

I am not using CMS. I do have basic authentication running though.

Is it possible to authenticate from $_SERVER['REMOTE_USER'] ??
as all users that have access to this area can use the chat.

I came to know from you that (donno from which post), there is a non-commercial script with the offline freichat javascript file included. I wanna get that as I want to have a full understanding of the script. I'll try to improve it if possible.

Hi, i just installed FreichatX 6.3.1 on joomla site with CB.
All work great, very good and thanks for all! But I have a problem with Firefox, in the right chat. When I write to someone the text is float on right and if I wrote one of this character (?,.) on the end of word it wrote on the left of word.

For example if I wont to write "How are you?" it write "?How are you".

In Chrome and Opera there isn't this problem and the text are float on the left.

Any suggestion?

I was trying to install the plugin on an ELGG site, and I mistekenly put in the wrong path for the settings. It was step 10 on this page.

It was a valid file, but the wrong files, so I was able to continue , but then received an error. My issue is that I wanted to restart and spcify the correct file, but I can't seem to get the settings link on the plugin to shop up now. I deleted the chat directory from mod\ ran upgarde, and reinstalled mod\chat, but the plug in does not have the settings link, and won't allow me to try to install the chat again. Is there any other file I can edit or remove to allow me to start the install again?

You've answered a similar question by JulienS I think, but I get the error "Error!: could not find driver" after completing the installation process, and I have no clue how to fix this.

To be more specific, I checked the resolution given to the previous user with the same problem, and I read mentions of PDO being enabled, but I don't even know what this is or where to find it to enable or disable it..

I am using Joomla version 1.6 and my database type is MySQL.

Could someone please give me step by step instructions on how to fix this? In layman's terms without too much technical jargon? Sorry for the inconvenience.

I installed the latest version of FreiChat. All problems with Russian language - solved. Thank you. (Now in Spanish I cannot enter enios, n-s with little dash on top in chat rooms names, but this is minor).
The thing that I cannot change myself is how to move label "Chat Rooms" down or up, because right now it is on top of my Main menu?

The application is running well at localhost but when uploading it on server it will gives error

The direct chat has the option to clear history, but, I don't seem to find the same option in the chat room.

Is there away to clear these logs?

I have a strange problem with friechat.
in the user list USER who is already login can see new users who login after him
but the new user who just login can't see the old user.
to make sure that the user is realy online and not apearing in friechat i published the module CB Online, that show all the register users that are currently online.
i chacked in the chrom tools and didn't find any error related friechat.

i'm using joomla 1.7 Cb 1.7 friechat 6.2.2

My installation went well into Joomla!1.5.25 with CB1.7.1 and UddeIM. I'm not a programmer but I'd like to shift the "Chat Room" link position on the left side of the display... it covers over my menu. Which file do I edit to lower the button a little? Of how can I change the location to the right side or other module position on the page?

First of - this seems like a good chat solution. I was stupid enough to buy chatix but freichat seems much better.

I have installed the chat in my site successfully that is the custom site developed in custom PHP. In mozilla it is showing all the online users and count of the user properly, but there is problem in opera, IE and google chrome. In IE first time chat window also not showing, but when i have set the javascript debug mode off, it si showing the chat window, but neither it is showing the online users list nor the count.
The PHP version id 5.3. Please help me to resolve this issue.
Same chat application is working in other sites on same server, so we can't say it is server issue.

I have run into the (hopefully!) last bug with Freichatx. After running Freichatx for a couple of hours on my localhost joomla installation, it stops wroking, and I get a javascript error in internet explorer. Clicking the error brings up the message:

Restarting the PC that the localhost joomla installation is running on solves this problem, but I don't want to have to restart every couple of hours just to keep the chat working. I have looked through the code at what might be causing this, and there is a javascript instance connecting this URL back to the chatroom (which I've hidden anyway, I dont' want the chatroom on the page). Is there a way to get rid of the:

code that is causing this problem?

If I remove the http://evnix-dot-com.appspot.com/?time='.time()) instance from the module PHP file, the chat stops working. I'm lost!

One last question here. Is there a way to store / review chat history of anyone using the chat? We need to keep a backup of anything on chat in case there is something inappropriate, and were hoping that because freichat keeps a backup specified in the settings (1 day to a couple hours) this backup would be accessable.

I love FreiChatX, but I've run into a bit of a problem.

Everything is working great, but in Internet Explorer 8 (have to use it for work) FreiChatx becomes misaligned. The status icon at the top drops down to a new line, and the status icons for the users are a little below their names. I haven't edited anything in the CSS file that would cause this change. In firefox, the chat box looks perfect. Any idea what is causing this / how to fix it?

i change the chatroom name from the freichat back end
in the hadline when i press and enter the room on the front end i see the had line in hebrew' but on the room loist on the right side when i open the chatroom insted of the room name for the 1 i change i get

The current version 6.3 has some bugs which could affect the user experience and to some extent the installation itself. Please upgrade to the updated version 6.3.1 as soon as possible.

I would like to know, where can I find the part of code that belongs to the freichat userlist? I am not talking about the css file and I don't mean the list in to the chat rooms window!!! It should be somewhere in to the freichat.js file, but I can't find it!!! Please help me!!! I'm close to brake my PC!!!

what i need to do to make the freichat work on the server also

I isntalled freichat and first it worked fine. Then I created a new template and did some changes in it. Now all of a sudden, freichat is not working anymore. It is fetching user data forever!
