Some messages are not stored in the database. The only way to find out, if messages were sent is, to press F5 from time to time or reload the messenger in another way.

I think there might be a performance problem with the database, because on my testsite this problem occures in about 5% of all messages, and on my "production-site" with about 10 users online it happens in nearly 30% of all posts.

Is it possible to implement an (perhaps optional) verify-mechanism that tries to resend a message until a timeout? If sending finally fails an error message could tell the user, his message wasn't sent.

I use Joomla 1.5.22 with CB 1.4 and Standard-Joomla-Freichat-Driver

What is the recommended procedure for updating freichatX, do you just download the newest stable release and overwrite everything?

kindly include avatars for elgg as the current showing avatar is the default one.

I installed FreiChatX (many times, actually) and when I go to my site to see if it works, i can't see FreiChatX's window.
(Module mode and Manual mode installation doesn't works)

I tried to install it in Joomla (without CB) and it works, I think there is a problem with CB.

I hope you can help me, and sorry if my english is bad.

How do we uninstall FreiChatX - if we need to?

Is it sufficient to delete the Freichat Folder and remove the freichat and freisession tables?

i am using elgg and i have enabled avatar at the back-end of the chat but users cant see their personal uploaded avatars all they can see is the default one.

first: great tool. Love this Chat :D

But I have some "problems".
First is, that when I go to my website www.juggernaut.de I have to refresh it once to see the chat.

Second problem is that I use joomla with a bridge to my Forum (phpbb).
Is it possible to use the FreiChatX with both systems?
I know how to install it for both, but it will work as two systems, not as one.

I hope you understand what I mean.

In the newest Version of Freichat users can't change onlinestatus from available to any other value. I use it on my Testsite. Please tell me, if you want to know the URL for having a look at this problem.

In older versions, sometimes messages are not send. I played with the timing values, but the with no combination of values all messages are transmitted. Is this problem solved in the newest version? Or will it be solved in Version 6.0?

I use FreichatX in an Joomla Installation 1.5.22 together with CB 1.4

Because of some problems with the current JCB Driver I use the standard Joomla Driver.

btw: FreichatX is the best IM-Solution for Joomla I've ever seen ;) I have only two questions concerning the further development:
- Would it be possible to customize the smileys in backend?
- Could unread messages be transferred to a PMS system (e.g. uddeim) after a specified time?
With this features it would be perfect (for me) :D

Setup:
- Joomla 1.5.23
- FreiChatX 4.6.3

Installation went fine and I selected my parameters.
But now what... how do I get to the chat. I tried reading every document and question here but that part is missing? How do I link a menu item to the chat session?

Freichat does not have an entry in my list of Joomla modules, components or plugins so I am at a complete loss as to how to move forward now.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Hello - I have installed latest version and using beautifully with CB and the $driver='JCB'; is correct but it still shows up the default avatar even though it is enabled in the configuration. Any ideas how to fix?

Hi,

Although my previous posts were a bit premature, I am now posting after doing some 'due diligence' and I am a bit stumped.

As normal, Firefox and Chrome display the chatbox as a fixed element that retains its position and doesn't scroll with the page - great! Also as usual Internet Explorer doesn't wish to do this and plonks it at the bottom on the left side, which is really annoying.

I have played with the CSS but the best I achieved was to get the box positioned absolutely in all browsers which is not really a solution.

Where I am working from at the moment I only have IE8 to test with, don't know if IE9 displays correctly - will test tonight. I assume that IE8 is in quirks mode - any decent workaround?

Hi, First of all please allow me to congratulate you on this extremely flexible component! I am currently testing it for a multi-language site and since three of the five I require are done it seemed ideal.

I would just like clarification on what the front end 'translate to your own language' is actually supposed to do? At the moment it doesn't seem to change anything although various languages are installed. Am I missing something?

I realise that I can pick a language in the backend but our site uses language files and joomfish to provide dynamic translation. Obviously that is not possible here but we would like our members to be able to select their own language themselves.

Or have I messed up on the installation? Thanks in advance!

Nevertheless, is there any possibility of dynamically adjusting the language?

I have a site that includes Joomla 1.5 / Jomsocial & CB and wanted to get some advice on which version would be best for me to install and if it matters if it syncs with Jomsocial or CB???

I thought in the previous version of Freichat I used I was able to select "real name" of users, the latest version only has "username" and "nick name" - any way that I can select real name?

I have been using Freichat 3.5.0 and COmmunity Builder on Joomla 1.5.22 for about 6 months now and after my previous host suspended us for using too much bandwidth in March this year even though we never had more than 4 or 5 users logged on, we moved to another host who promised "unlimited bandwidth"

Yesterday we were asked to remove Freichat from our website by our host as it was responsible for over 85% of their server load in busy periods.

After investigation it seems that Freichat was making thousands of database connections in parallel constantly causing huge server loads even if no one was on the site chatting. Something to do with the way you make the connection which keeps each connection open and opens a new one every time.

My question is whether the latest version of Freichat does things differently, for example using Ajax? Or will I have the same problem.

Looking forward to some pointers here, please.

i've been using the older versions of freichatx the 5.1 alpha for a few months but when i saw you realease a fix for the multiple chat windows problem i decided to update to the newer version.

I use Joomla 1.6.5 and Jomsocial 2.2.3, the problem is that now the chat shows no users online like in this screen:

i dunno if i made any mistake but i think i did everything correctly

i've insalled freichat in joomla directory and it only shows buddies fro m the jomsocial, also the debug seems to say that everything is working good..

I want to know that the what are the files load by freichat 5.2.1 on the joomla frontend means i am using joomla 1.6 with jomsocial 2.2.3 joomsocial template & freichat 5.2.1 in template i am using its built in css & js compression currently i have not excluded any file so the chat is not showing correctly but when i disable js compression the chat bar is showing correctly so please tell me what are the files load by freichat s i can exclude it from compression so chat bar is showing correctly .You can see my chat bar currently at http://new.yedels.com

Hello I have recently tested Freichat in my webpage but I wanted to know if its possible to make it work like a customer service... I mean Only the admin can see all other connected users but the users can only see the admin.

If its possible then how could it be done?, I checked on all the options but I coulnt find anything that could help me with this.

I manage to install FreiChatX 5.2.1 with CB on Joomla 1.6.5 in localhost Wampserver.
The chat windows did appear in the browser except only in Google Chrome but not in IE (try on IE7/IE8/IE9)

The CB avatar is also not showing.

However i cannot proceed with below error:

File Permissions
arg.php is writable

configuration.php is not readable

Question:

1. Where is the configuration.php?
2. How to make the configuration.php writabe?

I installed this version fresh, selecting Community Builder driver since I have CB at my site (www.nostalgiabaseball.com).

I cannot get the module to appear on any of my pages, no matter what position I assign. Checking for errors in the log file turned up nothing so I checked in Chrome and found no erorrs.

So, I'm suspecting that either I do not have the right version installed (should I have installed v3.5 for CB?) or perhaps my template (Gantry system) is a problem?

You will probably notice something right away with your diagnostic skills. Help would be appreciated at this point. I sent also an email.

Could you kindly let me know how can i edit the statement "No one is online" which gets displayed in the chat window.

I searched for it in few files but couldnt find it. Pls point me to the file which contains that.

I installed FreiChatX 5.2.1 3 days ago.
Since I installed it, I'm facing two problems:

1. FreiChatX doesn't show Jomsocial's Avatar
2. Even the users being online, FreiChatX shows no one online.

Can somebody help me?

Hello there!
I have a small problem with freichat 3.5 for cb. When receiving messages, the scroll bar moves up and therefore all new messages are hidden. I have to manually move the scroll bar down everytime I receive a message. I was wondering if you knew what could be the cause?
